We are ideally situated in the heart of Scarborough with superb sea views across South Bay and along the cliffs as far as Flamborough.
Built in 1844 the Jacobean style red brick mansion was originally named St Nicholas House. In 1898, the now Grade II listed building became the town's Town Hall, and was officially opened, with newly built Council Chamber and offices, by HRH Princess Beatrice, in 1903.
The Town Hall has five elegant, historic rooms licensed for non religious civil weddings, civil partnerships, naming and vow renewal ceremonies, giving you the choice of room that best suits your requirements.

The Mayor's Parlour is an ideal room in which to hold a smaller and more intimate ceremony. It's an attractive wood panelled room full of history and interest which can seat 12 people and has adjoining doors leading into both the Committee Room and the Civic Parlour.
Imagine signing the marriage register in the Mayor's chair that Sir Winston Churchill used when he visited the town as Prime Minister in 1952!
The Committee Room can hold 20 people and is a second room ideally suited to hold your interview and registry signing. Another impressive fireplace provides the focal point in this attractive room.

Your wedding is as unique and special as you are.
Everything about the day should reflect your own personality and individuality.
Many couples prefer to have a civil ceremony instead of a more traditional religious ceremony for their wedding. This allows them to include special readings, vows, symbols or wedding themes that they may not be able to include in a religious ceremony.
Scarborough Town Hall is licenced to offer both civil partnership ceremonies and civil weddings enabling same-sex couples to gain legal recognition of their relationship.
Whether you already have a vision of what your dream day will look like or are searching for inspiration, we can help.
Whether it is a new born baby, an older or an adoptive child, a naming ceremony is a wonderful way to welcome a child into a family and to recognise their place in your family.
Naming ceremonies are a chance for friends and family to come together and celebrate your new addition. It is also an opportunity for you as a parent or a guardian, for grandparents or other family members and friends to make commitments and promises and to express your continuing love and support.
Readings can be given by anybody present at the naming ceremony, including the child involved. As there is no legal status, naming ceremonies are very flexible (however there must be no religious content).
A naming ceremony is a time of celebration of love and personal promises. Scarborough Town Hall has rooms which would provide an ideal backdrop for such an occasion.
The renewal of vows, offers a chance to renew your marriage or civil partnership vows in a joyful celebration and renew their commitment.
